COSI (Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, Ohio) hosted an interactive videoconference on October 20, 2011 about genetic counseling. Matt Pastore, MS, CGC, pediatric genetic counselor at The Regional Genetics Center at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH discussed how genetics affects our lives. He explained how a genetic counselor provides thoughtful discussion for patients as they make decisions in difficult situations. |
Members of Dr. Pantano's Anatomy and Physiology and AP Biology classes attended this videoconference along with CITVC members. In particular, Mr. Pastore used the examples of Down syndrome and Huntington's disease as thought challenges for the students present. |
